The first step is a brief, complimentary phone consultation with custom ring designers Alexis or Mercedes to share your vision and discuss our process in-depth. Following this consultation, we connect for a virtual or in-person design meeting at our design office in Toronto.
Before we meet, we work tirelessly to source the diamond or gemstone that will perfectly suit your design and budget. This means you get to examine your exact diamond or gemstone in our meeting.
Along with your centre stone viewing, we will review every detail of your custom engagement ring or custom wedding bands and help guide you through all the choices to make your ring completely one-of-a-kind.
With your centre stone and design selected, we’re ready to begin the exciting custom design process!
Once we’ve selected your centre stone and designed your custom engagement ring or wedding rings in our design meeting, our custom design process begins.
We create unique 3D digital renderings based on your design and centre stone selection. Your 3D digital rendering allow you to see every angle of your ring in detail and to scale.
At this stage, we have the opportunity to make any adjustments to your custom ring before it moves into the finishing stage. We only move forward once your design is perfect and approved by you.
Once your renderings are finalized, we hand craft your ring in Toronto using the most meticulous methods. Our team are masters of their craft and engagement ring designers Alexis and Mercedes oversee the entire process.
Once we get started, it takes 6-8 weeks to complete your custom engagement ring or wedding rings. We recommend starting at least 12 weeks in advance, to ensure you have plenty of time to make changes if you wish.
We offer both lab grown diamonds and mined diamonds for custom engagement rings. Regardless of their origin, our diamond standards are high, and we only source diamonds of a superior quality.
Mined diamonds are diamonds that are mined from the earth, as has been a sourcing method for hundreds of years. Alexis Gallery is proud to offer only ethically sourced diamonds in accordance with the highest international standards.
Lab grown diamonds are visually, molecularly and chemically identical to mined diamonds. Unlike diamond alternatives like cubic zirconia, moissanite, and other simulates, lab grown diamonds are not a ‘diamond lookalike’. They are real diamonds.
In terms of appearance, hardness, durability and beauty- lab grown diamonds are exactly the same as mined diamonds. The only physical difference is their origin.
Lab diamonds have a smaller environmental impact. Because no mining is involved, the earth does not need to be disturbed to retrieve the stone. Lab diamonds also allow you to maximize your budget. In general, lab diamonds are about a 30 percent larger than mined diamond, for the same cost.
